Well, the Chinese translates to pearl milk tea - you've got to love the Chinese way of playing things up! - and it consists of large black tapioca "pearls" mixed with milk and strong tea.
What is created is this beautiful mix of creamy and bitter with wonderful surprises of sweetness traveling up your straw. Plus, it's HOT tea, so it is perfect for these cool days of not-so-warm sunshine and chilly winds from the west.(Oh yes, waxing poetic here... :)
I took a photo of my last one before I slurped it away. I hear that bubble tea is better in LA, south China, etc. - but, hey, I'll take the bubble tea that's mixed just outside my door any day!
