We were honored early in the New Year by being invited to a banquet with the president and many of the deans of our university. We, and other foreign teachers at our school, had a wonderful time with the "big wigs" of our school!
The president of ShiDa, who we called Professor Wu, was one of the friendliest and jolliest men we have met thus far in China. He was so quick to smile and laugh and he was an incredibly gracious host. The photos below don't show that great smile, but take our word for it: Great Smile!
Of course, when graced with such company, we thought group pictures would be most appropriate!
Our table companions: The man to Amanda's right in the great argyle sweater spent the night chatting like there was no tomorrow and teaching her all about Chinese cuisine, eating styles, and other polite behaviors. Such a nice man! Also, taking the picture is our old friend Mr. Pei, whose name you might remember from our dumpling-making day! (Check out all that food!)

Though Professor Wu was suppossed to be in an extremely important meeting at the time, he took out about 2 hours to dine with us. This is a perfect example of the Chinese hospitality and sacrifice for guests!
We went to a very nice restaurant along the Yellow River (the Huang He [Hwong Huh], for those wanting to learn Chinese), and we enjoyed all sorts of delicious dishes and delicacies. Nothing too strange or eye-popping, thankfully!

Last is a whole group picture. Gathered are many of the foreign teachers at ShiDa (our university's abbreviated name) and the school officials that we work most closely with. Between Amanda and Christina is Roy, the FAO's assistant who is wonderful! He takes such good care of us and is so very kind.
When you think of us, please remember these school officials. They have very tough jobs and are so very busy. Our hope is that we are able to be a Light with them as well to make a deep impression on their hearts through our every-day actions and words. Plus, we really enjoy their company!
